REMODEL FAQ’S
Where will we be meeting?
During the remodel, the AM Service will meet in the gymnasium on Sunday’s at 9:30AM. Adult Bible Fellowship Hour (ABF) will also be meeting in the gym during the 2nd hour. Children’s Jr. Church and Sunday School classes will continue to meet in their normal classrooms, until May 31st…see the section below “What about the children?” See the map.
Where do we need to Enter the building?
During the remodel, the only entrance that will be open is the East Door of the gymnasium (red doors). There is a black awning over the entrance doors, and there will be a large ‘Welcome’ flag to help everyone spot the doors to enter. See the map.
Where do we need to park then?
The East Parking Lot will be the most convenient place to park. Those who are able to handle a little extra walking, please prefer those who are less mobile and leave the closest parking spaces/lot for our Senior Saints and for visitors. See the map.
That seems like a long way to walk? Can I get dropped off/PICKED UP closer to the doors?
Yes! There is a blacktop path that will be a one way drive for those who need to be dropped off close to the doors, please see the map, or the helpful parking lot attendant(s) on Sunday morning. The path will allow a closer drop off, again see the map.
Where do I go when I get into the gymnasium?
Head straight in and a little to your left you will see all of the seats ready for you! There are 415+ chairs available! This does mean that we will all need to shift into the center of rows — don’t simply park on the ends of rows — and we will need to fill up from front to back, as there will be those who arrive a little after 9:30AM and we want to allow them to find seats quickly and easily. Helpful motto: fill up FRONT to BACK and SCOOT to the CENTER!
What about the children?
Children’s Ministries will still take place. Pastoral Assistant Eric Emmons has been working with the teachers, security, and communication with parents to help smooth this process. Please see a detailed explanation here. For now, the biggest takeaways are these: (1) Children must be signed into at the check-in station, have a sticker on them, and a parent sticker left with their parent/guardian. (2) Children will be escorted from the gymnasium to class … at Jr. Church dismissal times, and between 1st and 2nd hours. (3) To pick up children, the parent sticker must be presented to the attendant at the glass doors on the East end of the Children’s ministry hallway before the parent/guardian is allowed to go to the classroom and pick up their child(ren). See map for locations.
What about bathrooms?
Inside the gymnasium, there are men’s and women’s locker rooms. There are two stalls in the women’s locker room, and one stall and one urinal in the men’s locker room. These will be for those less mobile who cannot make it outside to the luxury temporary restrooms. Outside the entrance doors is a trailer that houses the luxury temporary restrooms! There are three steps up into the restrooms. On the women’s side, there are three fully enclosed stations with two sinks and paper towel dispenser. On the men’s side, there is one fully enclosed station, and two urinals, along with a sink and paper towel dispenser. If you have any questions as to the ‘luxury’ description, see these pictures.
What about the actual service? Will we still sing? Will we be able to hear?
Speakers and a screen will be set up for Sunday, and the goal is to have much the same service as we do in the auditorium. We will still sing, with piano and instruments. The plan is for the words to be projected onto a screen on the wall behind the platform. As there will be only one screen, and we will be limited with the projection size, this is another reason to follow the motto FRONT to BACK as you will be able to see the screen better the further up front you are! Audio will be set up to allow the best possible sound inside the confines of the gymnasium.
What do I do with my offering?
The usher’s table has been moved and will remain at the back of the seating arrangement. You can drop off offering in the plates like usual.
I really want to see the progress on the remodel…when can I walk through the building?
First, you can keep up with the progress through the website here, the PM Service moving night remodel prep pictures are here. Second, due to security, we ask that you wait to view any progress done in the building until after the ABF Hour/Sunday School Hour is dismissed. CAUTION TO PARENTS: this is an active remodel site, children are not allowed to be outside of the gymnasium or Children’s Ministry hallway unless supervised by a parent/adult. While the site will be cleaned up and well maintained in preparation for the weekend, this is a precaution that will be strictly enforced by our security team. Please do not allow your children to wander the building outside of the gymnasium or Children’s Ministry hallway.
But will there be coffee?
Yes! The coffee spot was moved, and is temporarily set up on the West wall near the restrooms. Our goal is to have coffee available for Sunday’s.
What if I miss a Sunday? Can I still livestream the service?
Unfortunately, there will be no live-streaming of services until we return to the remodeled auditorium. Audio will be available on the website per usual.
