Pastor Nate brings the message, "Christmas Joy” from Psalm 4 and John 15:1-11. The season with all of its festivities is ramping up as we get closer and closer to Christmas. Christmas parties, choir concerts, and gift exchanges are putting smiles on our faces. But, does God give us a joy that goes beyond the thrills of the season? Yes, He does and on Sunday we'll study this theme of Biblical joy.
As we move into December, the anticipation of Jesus' arrival wells up within us. The earliest promise of Jesus' coming is found in Genesis 3:15. It covers God's sovereign grace, the conflict of sin, and the ultimate victory in which Satan and evil are ultimeately defeated through our Lord an Savior.
The message comes from 1 Thessalonians 1:2-3. One of the kindest gifts that God has given us is the local church family. He has blessed us with spiritual brothers and sisters who, although not perfect, genuinely care and love us for who we are in Christ. May our hearts be thankful to God for what He has given us.
We happily remember the times our dads kindly showed us a better way to hold a bat, tie a tie, turn a wrench, or how to read a book. We needed correction and they gently helped us. In our walk with God we need correction as well, and we'll look at Galatians 6:1-2 to see how the local church ought to be doing it.
