Lakeshore Baptist Church, Grand Haven, MI

Our heartbeat is to know God and make Him known. This has been the essence of what we have believed since we opened our doors in 1922 in Grand Haven. That first group included eight adults who started meeting downtown in a storefront–eventually moving to two other sites before landing on the beautiful, wooded 17-acre campus we now call home.

We’ve come a long way since those early days, but we’re still restless. There are many yet who need to be reached with the gospel right here in our city. And until Christ returns, our work is never done.

Children's Ministry

We are especially blessed with lots of younger children. Our nurseries, children’s churches, and Sunday School classes are full and vibrant. We don’t merely provide baby-sitting services for parents; we are carefully introducing them to the great stories of the Bible, and especially the person of Jesus. Find out more by visiting our Children's Ministry page.

Youth Group

Lakeshore's Youth Ministry partners with parents to help disciple Middle School (7th-8th grade) and High School (9th-12th grade) students as they mature spiritually. We meet several times a week, where teens study God's Word, sing together, and break into small groups to share and pray. Find out more by visiting the Youth Group page.

In every stage of life we face struggles; struggles from within dealing with our own sin, and struggles without from the circumstances of life. Throughout all of these situations it's our desire to be a local community that cares for one another. At times we may face difficulties in marriage, with family members, struggles with sin, or some other hardship, and Biblical counseling is needed. At other times we may need a group of Christians to speak truth into our lives and help us walk through life, so we gather regularly in small groups. We often need to be encouraged and challenged by others, so we have regular mens and women's groups that gather together around the Bible for that purpose.

What to expect?

Our Sunday services are a chance for us to recharge and refocus on our mission to Know God and Make Him Known. We do this through hearing the Word preached, singing together, engaging in community, sharing life together, and so much more.

What is the Worship service like?

Our worship services are a blend of contemporary and traditional styles. A typical service includes Scripture, worship, music, prayer, and expository preaching.

What to wear?

Most people dress casually…but we know God is more concerned with what is in our hearts. You will find a wide range of comfortable dress from casual to suit-and-tie.

What about Children?

We use a Children’s Ministry Check-In system for security in our Children’s Ministry (CM). Each child receives a printed tag with name (first and last), their class, and any allergy information, along with a unique code. The parent label corresponds with the unique code and must be presented to the CM worker present in your child’s classroom before your child can be picked up.

If you have children 3 and under, prior to the service you can take them to the children's ministry wing (located near the Information Center). There are separate rooms for infants, 2-year-olds, and 3-year-olds.

All children from 4 years - 4th grade begin in the worship service and are dismissed before the sermon begins. We ask parents to walk with their children to their classes. Ushers will be able to direct you to the correct location, which is also where you will pick up your children after the service.

What if I have questions when I arrive?

When you arrive at the church, our Greeters can direct you to the Information Center located close to the canopy entrance. The Guest Services attendant will be able to answer any of your questions. We would be delighted to connect with you.
