Preparing Teens for a Christian Life
Our teen ministry follows a three-pronged approach:
We are trying to prepare teens for life. As they head off to college or the military or into careers, they need to be able to live and think as Christians. For that reason we offer these equipping opportunities:
MACE—Men After Christ’s Example — is a Monday evening gathering for the purpose of developing character and leadership in young men. They are learning how to be good husbands and workers and servant / leaders in the church. At the same time they are forming friendships for life with other guys.
LACE—Ladies After Christ’s Example — is the women’s counterpart. Also meeting on Monday evenings, it’s a chance for godly women to teach and model the graces of Christian women-hood. They are learning how to be godly wives and mothers and how to exercise their wide-ranging talents and skills for the benefit of the community and the church.
Sunday Morning—Bible Classes covering an array of topics from Apologetics and Worldviews to Biblical Theology.
Youth Groups on Wednesdays at 6:45 p.m.
We are trying to prepare teens to serve and evangelize by creating opportunities for our teens to volunteer and serve our local community. We have outreach programs that include Sunday afternoon worship services at Christian Haven. Most of our young people attend either Grand Haven or Spring Lake public schools and Andy Jaspers is involved in First Priority and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. We encourage our youth to use these programs as avenues to share the gospel in those schools.
Of course, young people like to “hang-out” together, and ours are no different. They do exciting things together monthly and regularly meet after evening services at various homes for what we call “YACs,” or, Youth After Church.
